Ion Chromatography IC

Ion Chromatography (IC) is a liquid phase chromatography technique that uses ion exchange, ion exclusion, or ion pairing as separation modes. The mobile phases are primarily composed of KOH or carbonate buffer for anion analysis, and MSA (Methanesulfonic Acid) or other acids for cation analysis. These eluents can be prepared manually or generated automatically via an eluent generator (KOH/MSA), allowing gradient concentration analysis. Its main purpose is the separation of anions and/or cations in solution or brought into solution. These may include inorganic ions such as transition metals, rare earth elements, etc., as well as any type of organic molecules carrying a positive or negative charge, such as organic acids. The most commonly used detectors include conductivity detectors, UV-Vis, and electrochemical detectors. Conductivity detection can be performed with or without chemical suppression. These systems can also be coupled with our WATERS Mass Spectrometers. Systems are available in single or dual channel configurations, capable of analyzing either anions, cations, or both simultaneously. The application range of Ion Chromatography is very broad: Environment, Petrochemicals, Food & Beverage (Water, Drinks…), Energy, Batteries, Cosmetics, Textiles, Ionic Pesticides, Chemical Industry, Pharmaceuticals, Mining, Electronics Components, and Semiconductors. There are portable and online Ion Chromatography systems for atmospheric or water analysis.
