As a research partner, HTDS often has the satisfaction of seeing its solutions used in keys experiments dedicated to science progress.

As an example of its latest success, a Tunisian team from the Sfax Biotechnology Center working on the fight against the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and the herpes virus 4 (HHV-4), which causes many cancers, made a crucial discovery that earned the ultimate achievement: a publication in the prestigious American online magazine Nature.

In scientific terms, the research team has discovered a new peptide able to bind specifically to the extracellular loop of a virus protein to limit its ability to trigger cancer.

Some of the experiments were carried out using scientific equipment provided by HTDS Tunisia and its partner Thermo Fisher Scientific:

  • Cell cycle analysis of cells was performed using Invitrogen FXcycleTm PI1 / RNnase staining solution. The data was collected and analyzed with the Attune NxT benchtop flow cytometer and its Autosampler from our partner Thermo Fisher Scientific. For the record, it was installed by HTDS in 2016 and was at that time the very first installed in Africa.

HTDS and its partner Thermo Fisher Scientific are proud of their contribution to this success and will continue to support research in Tunisia and Africa with state-of-the-art solutions and flexible and responsive local support.
